Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a very common disorder that causes pain with the use of the hand. It is caused by the pressure in the median nerve as the nerve passes through a canal formed by the bones and ligaments in the wrist. And that canal is known as the carpal tunnel.
Symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include pain and numbnessin the thumb and index, middle and ring fingers. Some suffers experience experience weakness of certain hand muscles and may drop some objects.
Doctors treat carpal tunnel syndrome by attempting to improvethe underlying condition. In some cases doctors can prescribe certain medications, but sometimes surgury will be needed.
